Repetitive Stress Injury Claims are Compensable under Georgia Workers’ Compensation
The term Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is used to describe pain in the muscles, nerves or tendons due to repetitive movement or postures. This occurs when someone performs the same activity for a continuous period of time; for example, using a keyboard or scanning groceries which affects the hands, wrists, elbows, fingers and forearms. But, RSI can affect anyone who performs repetitive movements and not necessarily confined to office work. Other high risks jobs for repetitive strain injuries include:
- nurses and health care aides
- janitors and housekeeping cleaners
- bus drivers
- agricultural and meat processing workers and
- construction workers
The affected body part with RSI can involve many different symptoms, such as:
- tingling
- numbness
- loss of strength
- pain, from tenderness and dull aches to throbbing or acute pains and
- limited range of motion or flexibility
If you think your symptoms are related to your job, you need to immediately notify your employer and report this as a work injury. Contact the Law Offices of Laura Lanzisera for assistance.
