Where will your hearing be held?

In Georgia, the following rules apply:

If the injury occurred in Georgia, the hearing is held either : a) in the county where the injury occurred b) in any contiguous county; c) in any county within 50 miles of the county or injury; or d) in any county if the parties agree and the workers’ compensation judge allows.

If the injury occurred outside the state of Georgia, the hearing may be held either in a) in the county of the employer’s residence or place of business or b) in any other county in Georgia as determined in the discretion of the Georgia workers’ compensation judge.

It is important to note that the place where the hearing will be held will often determine which of the State Board Judge’s will hear the case if the hearing is outside metro Atlanta, since each county often has one administrative law judge assigned to hear cases in that county.
